I moved into Cypress Lakes in July, 2012. One of the first questions everyone asks is “Where are you from”. They don’t expect to hear “Right here in North Lakeland for 60 years. But, they are comforted to know that I have known about Cypress Lakes for years, and still wanted to move in here.
My husband retired from being a manager at Publix warehouse, and we built a log cabin in the Smoky Mountains, “Bryson City, NC.” We were able to enjoy that mountain living, so different from Florida, for 5 yr. before he died just 2 yr. ago. My four kids wanted me to move back to Lakeland, since they are all here in the area. When I decided to move back to Lakeland this summer, I knew I wanted a safe area, with people my own age and activities to do. There is no better place to choose than Cypress Lakes. When I owned a local hair salon, I used to have clients who lived in here, and they all enjoyed it very much. I remember doing a fashion show here in the clubhouse 20 years ago for the women’s group.
I made a reservation to stay in the guest house (My son Tim came with me as a second opinion). Amy Mendez showed us around the area, and some homes that met my requests. I wanted a large kitchen and on a lake. She is a super/wonderful sales rep. and has remained a great friend since I moved in. Once I decided on the home I wanted, it only took 2 weeks and I was here; Amy following every step. I felt so welcomed.
I, being a single widow, feel extremely safe with the security and such nice residents and workers. I do not golf, but I have a golf cart, I take my dog, Pilgrim, to the dog park in it twice a day. I have joined several clubs: a craft club, sewing group, single womens club, cameo painting on fabric, and just this week joined the 19th holers club. There so many activities at the club house, 2 pools, excercise area, tennis. Just anything you may want to be active.
Take it from a life-long Lakeland Resident … Cypress Lakes is the place to be!
